Chapman High School
Seneca High School
Sophomore Ryan Moore tossed a complete game shutout to help lead the Bobcats to an 8-0 victory over Chapman in Game 2 of the District 1 playoffs. Moore allowed 6 hits, struckout 4, and walked only 2 in the game. The Bobcats played solid defense behind solid defense behind the young right hander all night, as he continued to get the Panthers to hit weak ground balls and pop ups.
Along with Moore’s dominant performance on the mound, the Seneca offense put the team in control early and allowed Moore to pitch with very little pressure. 7 Bobcats had hits on the night, with Furman Wilson, Tristen Hudson, and Coleman Smith all adding a 2nd hit to the effort. Seneca hitters also only struck out once, putting more than enough pressure on the Chapman defense in every at bat. Tristen Hudson and Petey Ridley both drove in runs, while Walker Lathrop had two RBIs, and Coleman Smith added 3 RBIs.
Seneca will be back in action on Monday, May 1, as the host Chapman again, this time for the District 1 Championship. The Bobcats are in the drivers seat, as Chapman will have to beat them twice to keep them from winning their 2nd District Championship in as many years. First pitch is scheduled for 5 pm, with Game 2 being played immediately following Game 1 if necessary.
