The Bobcat women’s track team finished in a tie for 8th place at the State Championships at Spring Valley High School on Saturday. They were led by individual state champion in the 800 meters, Sariah Stewart (2:19.57). Carson Towe was the state runner up in the 3200 meters (11:49.43), and finished 5th in the 1600 meters (5:33.86). The 4×800 Relay team of Stewart, Towe, Rhylee Wittrock, and Catherine Cann finished 3rd overall with a season best time of 9:56.22. Finally, the 4×400 relay team of Stewart, Wittrock, Nyqueyah Henderson, and Avery Raines finished 8th overall with a time of 4:22.31. All competing members of the women’s team at the state meet will return next year. The women’s team will celebrate their successes at the Track and Field Banquet on May 21st at 6 pm at Trinity Baptist Church.
