Game Recap

Bryson Whaley tossed a complete game shutout to give the Bobcats a 5-0 victory over rival Daniel in the Mountain Lakes Preseason Tournament Championship Game. Seneca continued the pattern of getting on the board early with 3 runs in the top of the 1st inning. After back to back singles from Walker Lathrop and Tristen Hudson, Jack Fassino doubled down the right field line to score both Lathrop and Hudson. Fassino advanced to 3rd on a passed ball, and Petey Ridley was hit by a pitch before senior first baseman Cayde Hamilton grounded out to short which was enough to scored Fassino from 3rd. The Cats added another run in the top of the 4th on a groundout by junior Coleman Smith which scored Riley Fletcher from 3rd. The fifth and final run of the game came in the top of the 6th, again off the bat of Smith, this time on a pop up that fell in no mans land behind short, that scored Furman Wilson from 3rd.
Whaley relied heavily on his defense, as he surrendered 6 hits with 2 walks and no strikeouts over the 7 innings of work. However, thanks to making effective pitches and a solid defense behind him, the Bobcats did not allow a single Daniel runner to advance passed 2nd base.
Seneca will return to action in a rematch against Daniel on Tuesday March 7 at Daniel. First pitch is scheduled for 6 pm.

Game Recap

Another strong all around performance for the Bobcats resulted in a 5-2 win over Crescent Thursday night. Seneca got on the board in the bottom of the 1st for the third game in a row, thanks to a sacrifice fly from Tristen Hudson, scoring Coleman Smith from 3rd. Jack Fassino added to the Cats lead with a 2 RBI single in the bottom of the 3rd. On top of the continued offensive production, the Bobcat pitching staff added a dominant performance of their own. Hudson and Smith had a combined no hitter through 5 innings, before Austin Hart singled off Smith to lead off the top of the 6th inning. Hudson tallied 7 strikeouts over 3 innings of work to gain his 2nd win of the season. Smith allowed only 1 hit and 1 run with 2 strikeouts in his 2.2 innings of work. Junior, Petey Ridley, came out from behind the plate to the mound to earn the save for the Cats. Ridley also continued to swing a hot bat, going 2-3 at the plate. The Bobcats will return to action at home and face rival Daniel on Friday, March 3 at 6:00 in the Championship game of the Mountain Lakes Preseason Tournament.
