Multiple Teams · Four Seneca High School Baseball Players Sign Letters of Intent

Four members of the defending Upper State Champion Seneca Bobcat Baseball Team signed letters of intent on November 14 to continue their education and baseball career with local colleges.  Third baseman Jack Fassino and pitcher Bryson Whaley signed with Anderson University.  Catcher Petey Ridley signed with Toccoa Falls College.  Outfielder Furman Wilson signed with Coker College.

All four players were instrumental in leading the 2017 Bobcat Baseball team to a record of 25-5, winning the Region 1-AAA Championship, AAA District 1 Championship, and AAA Upper State Championship.

Jack Fassino hit .383 with 8 doubles, 1 triple, and 4 homeruns as a junior with 37 RBIs.  Petey Ridley hit .422 with 11 RBIs and 4 doubles and was stellar behind the plate all year. Bryson Whaley was 7-1 with 1 save on the mound with an ERA of 2.084. He hit .263 with 6 RBIs. Furman Wilson hit .269 with 4 doubles and a homerun with 8 RBIs and had 29 walks and an on base percentage of .477. He also stole 11 bases and scored 27 runs.

Coach Andy Bay said “This is a great day for our Seneca Baseball program. I am very proud of each of these young men for the hard work and sacrifice they have put in to our team here at Seneca High School.  All four of these young men have the character and discipline it takes to reach the next level in sports.  My assistant coaches and I want to thank these players and their families for the commitment and support they have demonstrated to our baseball program.  I am excited about their senior season in the spring and wish them luck in the future as they continue to play baseball at the college level.”
