The Bobcats got a much needed win Tuesday night, in walk-off fashion, on a single by Senior, Riley Fletcher in the bottom of the 8th. Seneca continued to struggle at the plate through the first 6 innings of the game, finding themselves down 2-0 going into the bottom of the 7th inning. However, the senior-heavy Bobcat lineup showed its experience and refused to go down without a fight. Fletcher, reached first on an infield single to get things going with one out. Following Fletcher, 3 more seniors stepped up to tie the game at two. Coleman Smith singled, Furman Wilson walked to load the bases, and Ben Seitz grounded out to 2nd to plate the first run of the game for the Bobcats. Then, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and 2 outs, the Tigers could not handle the pressure, Smith touched home on a wild pitch to tie the game at 2 and send the game to extras. Crescent answered in the top of the 8th with one run of their own, but more senior leadership propelled the Bobcats to victory in the bottom half of the inning. Jack Fassino led of the inning with a double off the left field wall. Sophomore pinch-runner, Dakota Peters, stole third on a ball in the dirt and then scored to tie the game a 3 just a couple pitches later. Sophomore, Hunter Land, drew a walk followed by a sacrifice bunt by Walker Lathrop to put pinch-runner Cole Bay on 2nd base as the game winning run. The stage was set for senior Riley Fletcher. With two outs, Fletcher, laced a ball back up the middle just out of reach of the diving shortstop, and Bay touched home to end the game. The win moved the Bobcats to 3-2 in the region and still in control of their own destiny to win the region. They will travel to Rabun-Gap, GA for a non-region match Thursday night, and then travel to Iva Friday night to take on Crescent again in another must win game. First pitch in GA is scheduled for 6 pm, and first-pitch Friday night at 6:30.
