Coleman Smith is now 2-0 in 2 career starts on the mound for the Bobcats after dominating Indian Land through 5 innings of work Saturday, leading the Bobcats to a 13-6 win. The senior allowed just 3 hits, 2 runs, and 3 Ks on a day where he did not have his best stuff. Jack Fassino and Furman Wilson, came in out of the bullpen to finish the game.
Offensively, the Bobcats came out with a bang, plating 5 runs in the 1st inning without getting out. Every hitter in the Seneca lineup had a hit, with Jack Fassino, Ben Seitz, and Trent Land all getting two hits on the day.
The win sends Seneca straight to the Upper State Title game, which will be at Coach Mac Field on Wednesday May 9. The Bobcats will host the winner of an elimination game between Pendleton and Indian Land that will be played at Indian Land Monday night. Seneca is in the drivers seat, as they need to win just one game in two chances to repeat as the 3A Upper State Champions and make a return trip to the State Championship series. First pitch of Wednesday nights game is still TBD.
